What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Center Program Aide (4532) position at THE SALVATION ARMY?
Schedule/Hours: Regular, Non-Exempt (Schedule varies; evenings and weekends may be required)
This position is responsible for assisting in facilitating and monitoring recreational activities of the Community Center, supervising sporting leagues, transporting patrons, and supporting the upkeep of facilities and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:

Open/close the Community Center in compliance with established operating hours; secure facilities.

Prepare, organize, and maintain schedules of activities.

Supervise patrons and ensure adherence to rules and regulations.
-
Lead and supervise soccer, basketball, and baseball leagues while promoting good sportsmanship.

Transport patrons safely to and from the Community Center.

Assist in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of facilities and equipment.

Plan and organize the annual summer day camp.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Duties include a combination of sitting, standing, and walking frequently.

Requires ability to perform yard work such as raking, hauling, and operating maintenance equipment.

Work performed indoors and outdoors with possible exposure to weather changes, noise, dust, and dirt.

Qualifications:Education and Experience:

High school diploma or G.E.D. AND
-
Six months of experience coaching and supervising athletic events and maintaining grounds, OR
-
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications:

Valid State Driver’s License required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of standard rules and techniques of athletic sports (baseball, basketball, football).

Ability to build effective, positive relationships with individuals of all ages.

Ability to lead, motivate, and engage participants in recreational activities.

Ability to meet attendance requirements.
