What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Senior Maintenance Worker (4783) position at THE SALVATION ARMY?
Location: Camp Hidden Lake, Lexington, Mississippi
Position Type/Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday
Pay Rate: $18.50/hour
This position is responsible for:
Inspects and/or coordinates a variety of maintenance and equipment functions and repairs for Salvation Army buildings on camp property, living quarters and grounds including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs routine maintenance and repairs; runs errands; performs plumbing, painting and carpentry repair work.
- Oversees work being done by others including vendors.
- Ensures venders perform work as scheduled and within repair estimates.
- Assists with setting up tables and other equipment needed for special events.
- Regularly cleans building and sanitizes as necessary.
- Performs routine groundskeeping work to ensure the beautification of the landscape
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting.
- Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects (25-50 lbs.).
- Physical ability to "team lift" heavy materials, supplies and equipment (50-100 lbs) occasionally.
- Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
- Ability to read and follow a map and/or hand-written directions.
- Work requires working with cleaning chemicals and working outdoors which may involve discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Work requires driving where there may be discomforts associated noise and traffic.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. with some course work from a technical or vocational school in construction, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, an
- Three years’ experience performing maintenance and repair work for commercial building and grounds, with two years of maintenance and carpentry experience and good skill in the use of hand and power tools, or:
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Valid State Driver’s License (if required by duties)
- Bulldozer Certification
- Certification in one or more maintenance field
