About this opportunity:
In this leadership position, you will supervise, guide and support a maintenance team, helping coordinate daily work, prioritize maintenance needs, and uphold safety and facility standards. Collaborating with our year-round staff, you’ll assist with scheduling, equipment oversight, program set-ups, and ongoing care of camp buildings and grounds in alignment with established policies and procedures.
As part of the camp leadership team, you’ll model a positive, Christ-centered leadership that encourages growth in both campers and staff, while contributing behind the scenes to a welcoming, well-maintained, and mission-driven camp environment. This role offers hands-on leadership experience, teamwork, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact.
Key Responsibilites:

Lead, train, and supervise the Summer Camp Maintenance team, ensuring team members are equipped, supported, and held accountable for assigned duties.

Coordinate and implement daily schedules to ensure appropriate coverage, timely completion of tasks, and readiness of camp facilities and program spaces.

Conduct daily inspections of buildings, grounds, program areas, and equipment to ensure cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness; report needed repairs or replacements promptly.

Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies through proper use, cleaning, storage, and inventory management at the beginning and end of sessions.

Meet regularly with the Program Director to coordinate setup, teardown, and cleanliness of assigned meeting and activity spaces.

Ensure all maintenance operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as American Camp Association (ACA) accreditation standards.

Promote a positive, solution-oriented work environment by utilizing effective communication, supervision, and problem-solving skills.

Support quality programming and camper safety by collaborating with other departments and assisting with all-camp activities, evening programs, and special events.

Serve as an engaged member of the camp leadership team; demonstrates and promotes Camp Hoblitzelle’s Christian values through daily interactions, contributing to the spiritual growth and faith-based culture of the camp.

Report accidents, safety concerns, and facility issues promptly and accurately, following established camp procedures.
Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate or GED preferred.

A heart for others and a mind towards Christ.

Should be self-motivated and teachable.

Ability to build and maintain effective mentor relationships with peers, those in supervision and campers.

Two years’ experience in a facility and site maintenance, construction, or grounds keeping business preferred, or
-
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

A willingness to abide by The Salvation Army doctrinal statement and Camp Hoblitzelle’s policies.

Valid and Current Driver’s License

CPR & First Aid certified or capable of passing by June 15, 2025 (training provided by Camp Hoblitzelle during staff training if needed.)

Must be able to pass a state and federal background check.
Additional Information:

Camp Leadership Staff Training will be held June 3 – June 7, 2026 with all Staff Training held June 8 – June 14, 2026, and participation is required. The 2026 summer Camp program sessions will be held June 15 - July 26, 2026. If you are unable to work the entire season, please let us know on your application.
