Building Maintenance Worker & Custodian (4170)

Schedule/Hours: M-F Full time 35 hours

Pay Range: $15.00 – 16.75

This position is responsible for:

Performing routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment; performs routine grounds keeping work to ensure the beautification of the landscape; performs minor plumbing and carpentry repair work. Cleans and maintains the buildings and grounds to ensure the neatness and cleanliness of the same on a daily basis. This position includes custodian duties.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintains the grounds to include, trimming hedges, blowing leaves, and collecting debris; maintains the beautification of the grounds.

• Maintains all tools, supplies, parts, and equipment belonging to the Maintenance Department.

• Drives Salvation Army vehicle to pick up materials, supplies, donations, mail, and the like.

• Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms; cleans sinks and toilets, polishes mirrors, and replenishes supplies.

• Monitors activities and visitors of building and grounds to ensure security.

• Washes, folds, and stores laundry and linens.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.

• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

• Ability to frequently perform heavy lifting of supplies, materials, etc. weighing up to 50 lbs.

• Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.

• Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or G.E.D.

And

two years experience performing maintenance work in a general maintenance environment

or

any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Valid state driver's license.
