What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Summer Day Camp Director - FT (5241) position at THE SALVATION ARMY?
Schedule/Hours: Monday - Friday (8 hours work day). Hourly rate: $18.00 p/h - $20.00 p/h (depends on experience)
This position is responsible for:
Assists in the planning and providing activities and child care services for school-age children participating in the After School and/or Summer Day Camp Programs; plans, develops, and facilitates recreational activities and play time; prepares and maintains program records; maintains cleanliness and orderliness of Club’s property. Assists the Summer Day Camp Director with day to day operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides leadership and constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.
Assists the Director to ensure s activities for school age children; ensures that activities are age appropriate, stimulating, fun and safe for the children.
Determines appropriate supplies and materials for recreational activities; ensures the children's safety in utilizing the same.
Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside learning activities.
Prepares and serves children snacks and meals; ensures that children receive nutritional and tasteful food; provides positive, relaxed atmosphere during children mealtime encouraging conversation.
Organizes and supervises recreational staff; observes, monitors, and supervises children on the playground when needed.
Prepares schedules, parent notices, newsletters and other instruments necessary for the smooth operation of all programs.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
Ability to observe children and ensure their safety.
Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED, 45 hour required DCF School Age Training
And
Two years experience teaching child development programs in a church or pre-school,
Or
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid state driver's license
C.P.R. and First Aid Certification
