Corps/Department: DHQ Program Department
Reports to: Divisional Youth Secretaries
FLSA Status: Full-time, 40 hours per week; Exempt (exempt)
Education and Work Experience:
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent youth and administrative experience with three years' experience in camp administration in a primary leadership role, working with youth, or in a formal youth camping program, with responsibilities for program leadership and supervision. Preferred to be an active uniformed Salvationist, to plan and participate in Salvation Army
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work with a minimum of supervision; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and to respond to crisis situations in a calm and effective manner.
- Proficiency in the use of personal computers and Microsoft Office Suite, office equipment, budget and recordkeeping processes, and in the use of maintenance tools and
- Must possess strong interpersonal and relational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written formats with all levels of management, co-workers, clients, vendors, volunteers, and
- Must possess a current driver's license and an acceptable criminal history and driving record; certification in CPR and First Aid is
- Must be able to pass TSA background check, and State of Alaska Fingerprint Check.
- Must have a current Alaska Driver's License and pass the TSA MVR and Obtain Medical Card

- Ensure compliance with child safety policies and best practices in all youth programs and activities.
- Provide leadership and supervision to camp staff, volunteers, and program participants.
- Plan, organize, and implement youth programs, events, and activities that promote spiritual, social, and personal development.
- Respond effectively to emergencies and maintain a safe environment for all participants.
- Communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats.
- Manage time and resources efficiently to meet program goals and deadlines.
- Represent The Salvation Army positively in all community interactions and partnerships.
- Responsible for resourcing, planning, and directing summer activities including but not limited to: welcoming and farewelling youth, recreational activities, music programming, various curriculums, daily schedules, volunteer projects, staff and camper outings, educational guest speakers.
- Assist with staff and camper travel arrangements, including picking up and dropping off children from designated locations, and airport pick up and drop off.
- Ensure proper registration, statistics, and payment follow through; compile, prepare, and monitor reports and
- Be able to participate fully in all aspects of the Youth Department camp ministry and events
- Helps to plan and execute the summer camp program and youth department events; manage staff activities and administration
- Work with youth, volunteers, and staff ensuring a safe and spiritually enriching experience at programs and events.
- Coordinate with Divisional Youth Secretaries, Rental & Operations Manager, year-round support staff, and guest staff and officers to provide additional support to corps and divisional programs and events, providing them with scheduling, orientation, resources, and equipment for their designated roles.
- Assist with planning and leading summer camp orientation
- Be able to interview summer camp staff and recommend for hire, submit related employment paperwork to Human Resources for
- Regularly review reports and statistics of all youth programs and provide comments and feedback to the Divisional Youth Secretaries; assist with all correspondence related to the divisional youth department and the Summer Camp programs.
- Keep records of stats for all Summer Camp and year-round events (i.e. Retreats, Rallies, Camp Sessions, USDA required statistics, seekers, stats require by DHQ, THQ). Provides input for the annual budget, monitors fiscal condition through camper fees income reporting, responds to income shortfalls and/or expense averages, and presents reports to the DYS for review and follow up.
- Maintain day-to-day knowledge of issues that affect children or the camp's ability to operate and makes recommendations to DYS for response and
- Provide Protecting the Mission training and evaluations to the field, evaluate and maintain policies and procedures related to child safety at camps, programs and events, provide advice and recommendations to the field. Assist with facility evaluations and provide recommendations for child safety improvements to Divisional Youth Secretaries.
- Ensure ACA (American Camping Association) compliance during summer camps and events at King's Lake Camp.

- Organize and perform the functions related to the PTM program during camps, programs, and events in a professional
- Ensure compliance by all staff, volunteers, youth, and guests and completion of PTM, safety, and injury reporting including but not limited to: Notice of Concerns, Reports of Suspected Abuse, and Incident
- Provide additional information and assistance to DYSs, HR, and THQ including assistance with complaints, investigations, and other PTM issues as
- Maintain confidentiality of assessments, personnel information, and reports. Confer with DHQ PTM, and local chain of command on an ad-hoc basis regarding crisis response
- Create and maintain a record of all reports for program.
- Provide advice, support and general guidance to Corps/Programs on all PTM issues and/or concerns related to program.
- Track reports for trends and report to DYSs, field units, Divisional HR, & THQ, where appropriate.
- Serve on the Divisional PTM Assessment Committee and prepare minutes of all meetings
