POSITION: Operations Support Assistant

DEPARTMENT: 100 Corps Community Center

LOCATION: Puyallup Corps. Puyallup, WA

SUPERVISOR: Corps Officers

STATUS: Non-Exempt / Regular Full-time

BASIC PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to perform regular janitorial services to maintain the cleanliness and function of the facility and vehicles, maintain facility and vehicles by completing maintenance tasks and coordinating with outside vendors, to drive a company vehicle to collect donations and supplies from local vendors, and to support Emergency Disaster Services with recruiting and training a team and deploying to local disasters as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain the cleanliness of corps buildings, including but not limited to offices, restrooms, classrooms, the chapel, kitchen, multipurpose room, and food preparation areas.
  2. Maintain the cleanliness of the parking lot, landscaping, and walkways
  3. Maintain the cleanliness and repair of vehicles
  4. Conduct facility and equipment repairs
  5. Coordinate with maintenance vendors and complete the internal approval process when needed.
  6. Maintain inventory of janitorial supplies and maintenance equipment
  7. Set up and prepare rooms for program usage
  8. Primary drive for picking up and distributing donations, and any other needs, such as landfill and
  9. Load/unload food donations and equipment/supplies
  • Institute the Injury and Illness Prevention Program
  1. Assist the Corps Officer in recruiting and training an Emergency Disaster Team
  2. Ensure the canteen is always ready to deploy, mechanically sound, and with all needed equipment and
  3. Assist where needed with Seasonal fundraising, distributions, and other programs.
  4. Attend all Staff Meetings and other required meetings
  5. Other duties, as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  1. High School Diploma
  2. Ability to speak and write the English language at a moderate level
  3. High degree of confidentiality
  4. Minimum one (1) year of maintenance and/or janitorial service preferred
  5. Ability to keep the highest standard of hygiene
  6. Strong ability to utilize a high level of time management and handle multiple tasks
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  1. Must possess a valid Washington Class C Driver's License, and be able to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
  2. Must be 21 years or older
  3. Must pass The Salvation Army's in-house driving test and Motor Vehicle Records check
  4. Must pass a criminal background check
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
  2. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
  3. Ability to reach overhead
  4. Ability to operate a telephone
  5. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  6. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information

A generous benefits package is included with full-time positions: paid holidays, vacation time, sick time, and medical, vision, and dental insurance.

Health Insurance: Low bi-weekly premiums for employee-only coverage, Kaiser HMO for those residing in a Kaiser service area, Anthem EPO/PPO is available for those residing outside a Kaiser service area. Voluntary 1 and family coverage at additional cost. Delta Dental DHMO and DPPO dental insurance are offered.

Life and Voluntary Options: An employer-paid life insurance policy covers employees. Voluntary supplemental life, short-term and long-term disability plans are available.

Retirement Plans: Employer-funded Money Purchase Pension Plan (Defined Contribution Plan) 50% vested at five years eligible service time. Plus, an employee-funded voluntary 403(b) option.

Parental Leave: The benefit is 40 hours of Paid Leave for qualifying events.

Sick Leave: 12 days of Sick Leave annually accruing from day one, eligible for use after three months' service time.

Paid Vacation:

Two weeks annually, accruing from day one, for non-exempt positions.
Four weeks annually, accruing from day one, for exempt positions.
Accrued vacation is eligible for use after six months' service time.

Paid Holidays: 13 designated holidays 1 floating holiday per year
