Seasonal Driver

The Salvation Army Northern New England Division is seeking a reliable and dedicated Seasonal Driver to assist with the transportation of merchandise for various Christmas donation programs, including the annual News Center Maine 6 Coats and Toys for Kids , WGME 13's Joy of Sharing toy drive, and the distribution of merchandise throughout the State of Maine and perhaps New Hampshire. The ideal candidate will be responsible for picking up and delivering coats, toys, and non-perishable food, organizing storage units, and completing odd jobs as needed.

Responsibilities

• Transport merchandise related to all Christmas donation programs.
• Pick up and deliver coats and toys across the State of Maine and parts of New Hampshire.
• Drive a 16-foot or greater box truck.
• Load and unload merchandise, including lifting up to 100 pounds.
• Climb on and off the back of delivery trucks.
• Organize storage units in Westbrook, ME.
• Be available on call to drive or complete odd jobs as required.
• Drive long distances as The Salvation Army has Corp Community Centers as far as Houlton, ME, Old Orchard Beach, Portsmouth, NH, and Manchester, NH.
  
  
  

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to drive a 16-foot or greater box truck.
• Willingness to travel long distances, including as far as Houlton, ME, Old Orchard Beach, Portsmouth, NH, and Manchester, NH.
• Physical ability to lift 100 pounds and climb on and off delivery trucks.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

• Seasonal position from November through the second week of January.
• Travel required throughout the State of Maine and parts of New Hampshire.
