Essential Responsibilities
- Ensure daily paperwork is completed in accordance with procedure
- Maintain shelter policy without discrimination
- Assist with menu planning
- Supervise common areas, dorms, lounges, clothing closet, and laundry room
- De-escalate conflict and manage crises as necessary, excellent verbal and written communication
- Perform daily resident/security check on guests, rooms, and exterior of building
- General Office duties: answering the phone, filing, typing, record keeping, recording shift summary
- Attend all trainings and staff meetings as directed
- Cleaning and janitorial work as required, including laundry as needed
- Keep dryer vents clear of dust and lint
- Assist deep cleaning of the kitchen; assist with daily cleaning as needed
- Floor upkeep, including dining room, office, laundry room
- Accurately track resident medications that are under the supervision of The Salvation Army
- Clean empty rooms once resident has exited as needed
- Communicate shelter supply needs to maintenance or corps officer
- In absence of cook, perform kitchen duties
- Help to resolve conflicts between residents
- Remain on duty until replacement arrives
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Handle donations as needed
- Ensure client chore are completed in a timely fashion
- Process in-take and exit paperwork as needed
- Help with shelter and social services laundry upon request
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma / GED desired; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- 1 or more years working in a shelter type environment
- Must maintain confidentiality and comply with Safe from Harm guidelines and participate in training classes
- Have and maintain ServSafe Certification, or ability to acquire certification within 1 year
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
- Knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint
- Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
- Have and maintain current CPR/SED/First Aid certification; or ability to gain certification within 90 days
