FLSA Status: Part Time - non-exempt

Reports to: Corps Officer/Operations Manager

Schedule: Monday-Saturday, 40hrs/week

Supervises: Kettle Drivers/Bell Ringers

Rate of Pay: $20/hour

Closing Date: 2/22/2025

Function

The Assistant Kettle Coordinator/Driver (AKC) will assist the Kettle Coordinator with all tasks related to the set up and operation of the Red Kettle fundraising campaign. The AKC will support the Kettle Coordinator with the day-to-day logistics of the program. In the absence of the Kettle Coordinator, the AKD will fill in as lead for the campaign. The Assistant Kettle Coordinator/Driver will serve as a regular part of the kettle route driver team.

Duties And Responsibilities – Assistant Kettle Coordinator

• Assist in creating the weekly Bell Ringer and Driver shift schedules. Help with monitoring timecard processing.
• In the absence of the Kettle Coordinator, the AKC will act as lead for campaign operations.
• Help establish a great working relationship with store manager partners at approved kettle locations.
• Communicate schedules to Bell Ringers and Drivers. Answer questions and communicate any changes in work schedules with Kettle Office staff.
• Assist in entering Bell Ringer and Driver timecards into Register-2-Ring software. Help with the timely submission of payroll records to Divisional Headquarters.
• Encourage Bell Ringers and Drivers to foster quality work, punctual attendance, and good communication when schedule changes are necessary
• Assist with Volunteer Bell Ringer requests and scheduling. Participate in regular communication with the Volunteer Coordinator.
• Encourage safety protocols for all seasonal workers, especially when working in extreme cold and in hazardous driving conditions.
• Assist with end-of-campaign Inventory and Condition Report of all Red Kettle Campaign equipment and resources at the close of the season. Ensure that all equipment is accounted for and stored in the appropriate location.

Duties And Responsibilities – Kettle Driver

• Drive kettle routes as assigned. Safely deliver Bell Ringers and equipment in accordance with the route schedule.
• Ensure all kettle buckets are locked, and the stand is placed in the best location at the start of each shift.
• Conduct vehicle pre-safety checks of brakes, mirrors, headlights, tires condition, etc. before the start of each drive. On snowy days, warm up the vehicle and clear all windows of snow prior to departure.
• Encourage Bell Ringers to dress warmly and safely, maintain a positive presentation to public, and interact with expressions of kindness and gratitude to everyone.
• Report any vehicle accident, damage, and/or defect to Corps Officer immediately.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and readiness daily. Communicate all time-off or change of schedule needs to Kettle Coordinator in advance to help with finding back up coverage.

• Education/Experience
• Minimum High School Diploma

• Skills
• Experience in working with groups

• Experience in working with management
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
• Ability to access and produce information from a computer
• Ability to work with a diverse population in a professional manner building relationships
• Ability to motivate and encourage staff and volunteers

• Driving
• A minimum age of 21 (for insurance provision) and possession of a valid in-state driver’s license is required.
• A MVR (motor vehicle record) will be processed every year in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies.
• Background Check
• Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies.
