The Food Services Worker will prepare, cook and serve food for the residents of the Emergency Lodge Homeless Shelter; clean the kitchen, dining room and food service areas according to sanitation and safety standards.
About The Role
Experience: One year experience in food services, institutional cooking or related experience

The Food Services Worker will prepare, cook and serve food for the residents of the Emergency Lodge Homeless Shelter; clean the kitchen, dining room and food service areas according to sanitation and safety standards.
About The Role
- Prepare and cook meals according to established menus
- Prepare bag breakfasts and lunches
- Prepare and save hot dinners for clients as requested by the Case Management staff
- Ensure proper rotation of food inventory and dispose of outdated foods
- Wash, cut, and prepare foods designated for cooking
- Prepare and serve beverages
- Maintain sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas
- Maintain the cleanliness of the Walk-In Cooler, Freezer and Dry Goods Store Room
- Substitute for or assist other Food Service Worker/Cooks during emergencies, rush periods or absences
- Conduct regular inventory of food and food service supplies and report any needs to the Food Services Supervisor
- Assist with the maintenance of all kitchen equipment and communicate equipment needs to the Food Services Supervisor
- Accept and store daily deliveries
- Interact with residents and staff in a friendly and professional manner
- Work with Case Management staff to ensure that special dietary needs of residents are met
- Understand and comply with all safety, sanitation and food handling standards
- Understand and comply with The Salvation Army’s Mission Statement
- Comply with all Salvation Army policy and procedures.
Experience: One year experience in food services, institutional cooking or related experience
- Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities
