JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Lead Counselor-Residential, provides clients with individual and group counseling, skill building and alcohol/drug education classes, and case management for residents. Develops and implements residential program activities and provide supervision of residents
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in a behavioral health discipline, required with at least two years of specific training and experience working with persons in substance abuse treatment and/or similar populations, and/or an active CSAC credential with 3 years of experience, preferred. Must have experience providing individual and group addiction and/or mental health treatment services and must have demonstrated ability to produce effective treatment plans and updates and perform appropriate discharge planning including viable discharge summaries. Effective verbal and written communication skills, maturity, insight and sound judgement are required. Non-CSAC (Hawaii State Certified Substance Abuse Counselor) must be willing to work toward attaining CSAC. Valid Hawaii State driver license required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Regular attendance is required for the position.
Complete assessments and interpretive summaries as assigned.
Develop clinically appropriate treatment plans with assigned clients and revise as scheduled.
Provide individual substance abuse counseling, group therapy, family counseling, and case management services as assigned.
Provide classes and psycho-educational groups related to addiction, relapse prevention, family issues, women’s issues and other appropriate topics.
Participates in treatment team meetings and seeks consultation from other disciplines as appropriate.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records for each assigned resident, noting significant problems and progress, including using the WITS (Web Infrastructure for Treatment Services) system.
Prepares written reports and correspondence related to case management in a professional and timely manner.
May supervise interns or volunteers as assigned
Provide ongoing written or verbal communication to other program staff related to client needs or concerns to assure coordination of services.
Correctly and promptly follow specified agency procedures required for the appropriate handling of all Emergency Response Codes.
Maintain all credentials and certifications, as specified by agency policy and procedures.
Perform other related duties as may be required or assigned.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Able to meet basic standards of physical, mental health, and communication demands. Specified by State and/or professional accreditation standards applicable to this agency. Initial/Annual criminal background check, pre-employment, annual physical examination, CPR/first aid, TB test, and driver abstract compliance with agency policy are required.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Most work will be indoors and occasionally outdoors. Attendance at trainings, both in Hawaii and on the mainland, may be required.
