Overview
Serving under the direction of the Lead Facilities Assistant, supporting the logistics & maintenance services of the East Cleveland Corps Community Center. The Facilities Aide will support and maintain the Mission of The Salvation Army and the Vision of the East Cleveland Corps, in accordance with all applicable internal & external policies and procedures. Though not intended, this position may require additional work hours outside of regular schedule, if facility needs dictate.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As directed by the Lead Facilities Assistant:
- General maintenance of property - internal and external
- Maintain cleanliness of air vents & intakes
- Ensure that the rooms are heating & cooling as necessary, reporting any concerns to the Director of Operations
- Receive deliveries
- Assist with inventory of cleaning supplies
- Assist with exterior grounds (sidewalks, field, lawns, overall perimeter) maintenance including trash, snow and ice removal
- Maintain cleanliness of interior and exterior trash cans
- Assist with room setup & breakdown as necessary to facilitate operations
OCCASIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As directed by the Lead Facilities Assistant:
- Assist with stocking shelves of all food items adhering to applicable health codes & practices
- Participate in and support the implementation of special activities and event for the East Cleveland Corps.
- Be prepared and willing to assist with the administration of seasonal programs including Christmas Toys & Kettles, Back-To-School, etc.
- Any other duties as shall be required by the supervisor or Administration
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Experience in field preferred but not required
- Must be able to function in a fast-paced, frequently changing work environment with the ability to multi-task.
- Must possess organizational skills and be detail oriented.
- Must possess a professional attitude and approach to problem-solving.
- Must be able to relate well to all people and be a team player.
- Must possess good communication skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The Facilities Aide operates in a community center setting and is regularly exposed to a variety of working conditions. The role involves frequent physical activity, including standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), bending, and operating cleaning or maintenance equipment. Work is performed both indoors—in offices, classrooms, and common areas—and outdoors, including sidewalks, lawns, and parking lots. Exposure to seasonal weather during snow removal and other exterior tasks is expected. The environment is fast-paced and service-driven, requiring adaptability, teamwork, and a commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming facility for the community.
