Provide organization and coordination to Dorothy Day Soup kitchen program; Provide organization and coordination to property maintenance
Responsibilities
- Overseeing the Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen daily operations and food service Organizing volunteer groups for food preparation and service
- Coordinating with volunteer groups for food preparation and service
- Coordinating with Officers to develop and expand ministry opportunities
- Supervising the cleaning and maintenance of the dining room and kitchen area
- Ordering food for both the Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry programs
- Coordinating with other employees to keep pantries and supplies properly stocked
- Pursuing grant opportunities for the Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen program
- Providing monthly statistics related to programs under coordination
- Refer clients to other community resources as necessary
- Coordinating with Officers and volunteers on the homeless outreach ministry
- Coordinating with Officers and volunteers on the summer feeding ministry
- Representing The Salvation Army on any related community committees
- Supervising the cleaning and maintenance of Salvation Army buildings and properties
- Coordinating with volunteer groups for building and property upkeep
- Coordinating with the Officers on building and property projects
- Working with contractors and affiliated companies on the completion of projects
- Communicating with local service companies for maintenance and repair needs
- Overseeing the care and upkeep of the vehicle fleet
- Updating maintenance contracts annually
- Performing any other duties related to job responsibilities as determined by the Corps Officers
Qualifications
- Able to supervise others
- Must possess time management and statistical tracking skills
- Knowledge and skill to operate MS Office program(s) including Publisher, Excel, Word, and Access
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to assess the needs of clients and make appropriate referrals
- Perform ministry service in an independent, confidential, and professional manner
- Have an up to date SERV Safe certification
- Have a valid driver's license
- Completion of KeepSAfe abuse risk management training as required by the KeepSAfe policy and assigned by the supervisor.
