Overview
The Digital Marketing Internship is an opportunity for a high school or college student to learn from The Salvation Army’s Digital Content Manager to develop skills in photography, videography, content creation, and social media strategy. The intern’s assignments will document and share the work of The Salvation Army in their local community.
The internship can be for either a summer, a semester, or a school year, with the opportunity to extend into the summer/school year for a total of one year as an intern, as agreed upon by the intern and the Digital Content Manager during the hiring process.
Responsibilities
- Assist in documenting events, services, and/or programs through videos and photos
- Create interesting, engaging, inspiring, and/or entertaining content that promotes The Salvation Army in a fresh way
- Develop engaging copy to accompany social media posts
- Actively monitor social media activity to identify trends and potential partnerships
- Identify suitable content from local worship and community center social pages
- Make recommendations to Integrated Marketing team based on current social media trends and patterns
Qualifications
- Passion for The Salvation Army’s mission
- A current student, with an interest in digital marketing
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to follow through on assignments
- Willing to work 5-10 hours weekly on tasks as assigned by Digital Content Manager
- Familiarity with social media platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and Threads
- Basic knowledge of video and photo editing software (Adobe Creative Suite)
- Detail-oriented with excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel to various Salvation Army sites within reason
