Salary Range starting at: $340/Week

 

Job Objective: 

The Sports & Games Program Aide will assist with the provision of camp programs and recreational activities to campers and assist in the general care and well-being of campers. Additionally responsible for the care and set up of camp activity resources, supplies and equipment.  

What You Will Do 

  • Lead campers in sports activities, recreational games, and other camp activities. 
  • Provide camp game ideas and resources to cabin counselors as needed. 
  • Assist Program Coordinator in preparing program spaces and supplies for use, according to the camp schedule. 
  • Maintain organization of the recreation shed and other storage areas as assigned. 
  • Ensure that staff and leaders have recreational equipment needed for classes and programs.  
  • Serve as scheduled in the camp activity areas for which certification/training has been obtained, providing instructions and opportunities for camper participation. 
  • Assist with camp classes, activities, and evening programs as assigned. 
  • Assist in the cleaning & organization of classrooms & storage areas as assigned. 
  • Work in the snack shop as assigned. 
  • Assist at camper registration. 
  • At the end of each camp session, clean cabin according to check out procedures and assist in cleaning and re-set of other camp program areas, as instructed.  
  • Comply with camp policies. 
  • Observe the spiritual emphasis of camp. 
  • Keep living quarters clean and neat at all times. 
  • Practice courtesy in sharing living space with other camp staff members. 
  • Maintain a positive attitude. 
  • Participate in staff meetings, evaluation sessions and devotion times. 
  • Must carry radio while camp is in session on your person. 
  • Other tasks as assigned by Leadership. 

Minimum Qualifications:  The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position. 

EducationBe a High School Student or above  

Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed. 

Experience: Must have experience working with children. Must have experience in relevant camp activities. Must have general knowledge of how to care for camp recreation equipment and supplies.  

Certifications: Must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 30 days of employment. Must be able to complete provided training courses for camp activities as assigned, such as paintball, mountain bikes, fishing, etc.  

Skills/Abilities:   

  • Must be a Christian who demonstrates the principles of Christian living. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision. 
  • Ability to manage time well in order to accomplish multiple tasks by a set schedule. 
  • Able to relate God to campers in the natural setting of camp. 
  • Ability to plan a lesson or activity 
  • Ability to teach a concept or lead an activity for children  
  • Able to guide, direct, and supervise daily duties and responsibilities of other staff members, as assigned 
  • Able to communicate well with other staff, campers and supervisors 

Supervisory Responsibility: No supervisory responsibilities

Physical Requirements Include:  

  • Able to walk for extended periods of time and across uneven terrain.  
  • Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity 
  • Lifting materials up to 60 pounds and carry it for at least 50 feet. 
  • Be physically fit enough to keep up with daily camp activities. 

Travel: Position may require occasional local travel, including the use of camp vehicles across the camp property.  

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a residential camp settingWork will be expected at varying and flexible times, including overnight and some scheduled weekends.
