Payroll Specialist
Location: Hoffman Estates, IL
Pay: $23-25.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-time
Schedule: 36.25, Typical office hours, may need to work some evening and weekends. 1 remote work day after completing 90-days.

About the Role
- Accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll for assigned ARC’s.
- Assist ARC HR Coordinators in maintaining and updating employee records in the Human Resources Database.
- Enter Child Support Orders, Garnishments and all other payroll deductions into the Payroll system and then ensure that accurate and appropriate deductions are withheld from employees’ paychecks.
- Process manual payroll check calculations for missed employee payroll checks as requested by ARC personnel.
- Provide solutions to HR Coordinators with their day-to-day employee record maintenance questions.
- Maintain employees’ benefit accrual hours in the timekeeping system per regulations in the TSA Employee Handbook.
- Compare and Reconcile Medical and Life Insurance billings with employees’ Payroll Deductions.
- Assume the responsibility of entering Human Resources and Payroll data for ARC’s during temporary vacancies in the HR Coordinator’s position.
- Ensure that all ARC’s are fully in compliance with all State and Federal Payroll regulations as pertains to current Minimum Wage laws and appropriate State and Local Taxes.
- Research and provide solutions to ARC employees’ paycheck and Timecard inquiries.
- Calculate and ensure that the Vacation Payouts for eligible terminated employees are accurately processed and paid.
- Run and provide Human Resources and Payroll Managerial Reports to the ARC’s on a bi-weekly basis.
- Support the Mission Statement of The Salvation Army.
- Other duties may be assigned to support the mission of the Department and the ARC Command.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related business field is preferred, along with one to two years of payroll processing experience. ADP experience or another payroll product is preferred.
Skills & Abilities
- Must have a general understanding of The Salvation Army’s health plans, including HIPAA regulations. Must be able to read and interpret the Employee Handbook, Employee Health Plan, and Employee Pension Plan manuals.
- Well organized with good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Must possess excellent attention to detail with regards to procedures, processes, and policies while maintaining strict confidentiality.
