What are the responsibilities and job description for the After School Program Aide position at The Salvation Army Central Territory?

Position Summary: Assist in overall responsibilities for the after-school program through tutoring and mentoring youth, grades K-8.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Tutoring youth in core academic subjects, completion of daily schoolwork and after-school program lessons
- Leading and/or coordinating game time activities for youth
- Assisting in other after-school activities
- Creating a positive environment that is conducive to learning
- Assist with meal preparation for after-school youth attendees
- Leading in planning and/or coordinating age-appropriate recreational activities for both indoors and outdoors, weather permitting.
- Run unpaid vendor list after last check run for each month.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- High School diploma / GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Some college in a related field preferred
- 1 years’ experience working with youth in a tutoring type of capacity, preferred
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple job-related assignments.
- Ability to make decisions within the limits of authority
- Ability to provide conflict resolution with youth in a positive, yet effective manner
Computer Skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
- Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint
- Willingness to learn new software as needed
Certificates and Licenses:
- Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
- Must have and maintain a current valid driver’s license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR)

- Up to (6) earned sick days per year may be used as discretionary days.
- The accrual rate is based upon years of service and approved hours worked.
- Sick days begin accruing the first of the month following 30 days of employment and you may begin to use accrued sick days once available.
- Vacation begins accruing the first of the month after one full calendar month after employment begins, and you may begin to use vacation days after (90) days of employment.
- You will receive up to 2 personal days per year based on date of hire.
