What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bailer & Warehouse Worker position at The Salvation Army and Careers?
Location: Havelock, NC Store
Schedule/Hours: Monday-Saturday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Up to 40 hours per week)
This position is responsible for:
Lifting, carrying, loading, and unloading a variety of donations, including furniture, appliances, clothing, etc.;
determines the suitability of items based on established standards; assists in maintaining the orderliness
and cleanliness of the warehouse area; and performs routine maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities:

Receives, inspects, and sorts donated items such as clothes, shoes, household items, bric -a-brack, etc.,
according to category and condition; selects items suitable for store display and distributes them to the
appropriate area for further sorting and/or pricing; discards items in accordance with established
procedures. -
Packs items in boxes and marks boxes; accordingly, assists in transporting boxes to the appropriate
storage area; lif ts and carries items to the appropriate destination for further processing, storage, or
display in the store. -
Assists with organizing items in the warehouse; stores shoes in storage areas; tests electronic items to
ensure they are in working order. -
Collects and empties trash for the warehouse area.
Maintains warehouse area in a neat and orderly manner; cleans f loors, tables, and work areas.
Cleans all display racks and shelves, sweeps and mops f loors, cleans windows and mirrors, and ensures
that the store is maintained in a clean and inviting manner.
Places and arranges items in the store as directed; checks all store displays to ensure that items are
maintained and displayed in a neat and orderly manner; rotates and/o r rearranges stock as directed.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language ef fectively.
- Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
- Duties require frequent periods of physical mobility, including but not limited to standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, and lif ting. Physical duties may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of sitting.

Extensive amount of physical ef fort required associated with lif ting, moving, and carrying very heavy
objects (up to 100 lbs.) f requently.
Work is usually performed in a normal warehouse environment where there are physical discomforts
associated with changed in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

Education and Experience:
No formal education or experience required.
Valid State Driver's License (Preferred)
Forklift Certification (or ability to obtain within an established timef rame)
