What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sorting Room Supervisor position at THE SALVATION ARMY A GEORGIA CORP?
Schedule/Hours: M– F 9:30 a.m.– 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week)
This position is responsible for:
Supervises and participants in the work preformed by employees and community service workers in the Sorting Room/Warehouse; ensures that all donated items are processed through the warehouse in a timely manner and in accordance with establishes standers; ensure the thrift store remains adequately stocked.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervises warehouse staff (employee’s, beneficiaries, and community service workers) and volunteer’s; schedule, monitors and evaluates their work; instructs and trains staff in the proper methods an procedures for preforming work; inspects work in progress and upon completion for accuracy and completeness; responds to employee questions and assist in resolving operational and personnel problems; ensures the work is performed in compliance with established standers, policies and procedure. Conducts performance evaluations and recommends disciplinary action when necessary.
- Monitors the arrival and distribution of all donations ensuring that items reach the appropriate destination in a timely manner
- Monitor the supply of items available in the warehouse to determine the area needing additional stock.
- Assist in loading and unloading trucks as needed; supervises that the warehouse rea is maintained in a neat and orderly manner.
- Participates in the housekeeping duties; ensure that the warehouse area is maintained in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Physical ability to lift and carry and or push/pull light objects (Less than 25 lbs.)
- Stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to meet attendance requirement.
- Ability to read write and communicate the English Language.
- Working is performed in a warehouse environment where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.

EDUCATON AND EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or G.E.D and three years' experience preforming warehouse work with at least one year experience in supervisory capacity
OR
any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
