What are the responsibilities and job description for the After School Tutor - Immokalee (7501) position at THE SALVATION ARMY A GEORGIA CORP?
Schedule/Hours: M – F 12:00 pm – 5 pm - 25 hours a week
This position is responsible for:
Supervises children, implements activities, maintains classroom environment, ensures children’s safety, establishes a positive environment for children and families. Provides transportation for children to and from activities, including after-school pick-up.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists, instructs, and evaluates children in the academic areas in which they are weak so they may better understand and perform the skills in those areas.
- Conducts individual and group tutoring sessions with students; prepares various reports documenting the student’s progress and shares the same with parents and others as necessary.
- Supervises children in the playground and plans activities the children can enjoy while outdoors, plans and coordinates sports activities as well as arts and crafts.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Works is performed in a normal classroom or office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
- Work requires occasional travel to schools which may involve exposure to changes in weather and/or heavy traffic.

- High school diploma or GED AND
- One year experience teaching school aged basic academics OR
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid State Driver's License.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- 45-hour DCF required school age training.
