What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing Intern position at The Safety Navigator?
Company Description
The Safety Navigator turns camp safety requirements into practical, real-world action. Think of us as a compass, not a rulebook: we give camp leaders and staff the guidance, tools, and support they need to build stronger safety cultures, without adding red tape. We partner with camps, not police them. Every project, post, and platform we build serves one goal: every child who goes to camp comes home safely.
We're also an AI-native nonprofit, which means our team uses AI tools daily to move faster and build smarter. No prior AI experience required, just curiosity and a willingness to dive in.
Role Description
We're looking for a Content Strategy and Brand Development Intern to help us tell TSN's story across every channel we touch: social media, newsletters, our community platform, and physical materials that camps hold in their hands during an emergency.
This is a hands-on, build-it-with-us role. You'll help shape how a mission-driven brand shows up everywhere from an Instagram Reel to a printed Emergency Action Plan flipbook.
You will:
Develop and execute content strategy across social channels, growing our voice and reach in the camp and youth development space
Write and design our newsletter (sent via Beehiiv), turning safety updates into content camp directors actually want to read
Support brand development work, from visual identity to voice and tone, across digital and physical assets
Help produce outreach materials that connect with camp leaders and partners
Conduct market research on camps and youth organizations to sharpen our strategy
Assist with communication to potential partners and support light sales and customer service touchpoints
Keep clean records of outreach and engagement so we can see what's working
Qualifications
Strong writing and communication skills, with an eye for tone and audience
Interest in content strategy, brand development, or digital marketing across socials, newsletters, and design
Comfort with (or curiosity about) AI tools; we'll teach you the rest
Ability to conduct market research and contribute to strategy conversations
Self-directed, organized, and comfortable working remotely
Currently enrolled in or recently completed a program in Marketing, Communications, Design, Business, or related field preferred
A pull toward nonprofit work, safety, or summer camp is a big plus, but not required. What matters most is passion for the mission and a willingness to learn fast
