The Opportunity
At The RV Shop, we believe world-class RVs deserve world-class care. As a Lead Driver, you’ll play a critical role in keeping our transportation operations moving—literally. In addition to safely transporting RVs and related units, you’ll serve as a key point of contact for the driver team, helping coordinate daily schedules, train new drivers, and ensure our transportation procedures are followed consistently.
You’ll be responsible for coordinating pickups and drop-offs, checking in with drivers throughout the day, supporting driver training and certifications, and assisting leadership with incident reviews and performance concerns. You’ll remain an active driver while taking on additional responsibilities that help keep the team organized, safe, and efficient.
Your leadership, communication, and attention to detail will directly support production flow, operational efficiency, driver accountability, and our reputation for reliability and customer-focused service.
What You’ll Do
➢ Transport Units Safely: Drive RVs and other units between New Castle and Laurel, DE locations, as well as additional destinations as needed.
➢ Coordinate Driver Schedules: Schedule and coordinate driver assignments, pickups, drop-offs, transfers, and other transportation needs based on operational priorities.
➢ Lead Daily Driver Operations: Serve as a primary point of contact for drivers throughout the day, helping coordinate assignments and address changing operational needs.
➢ Check In With Drivers: Maintain regular communication with drivers to confirm assignments are progressing as expected, identify delays or challenges, and provide updates to leadership when needed.
➢ Train New Drivers: Assist with onboarding and training new drivers on company procedures, safe vehicle handling, communication expectations, inspections, and other required processes.
➢ Manage Driver Certifications: Assist with maintaining required driver certifications and training records and sign off on applicable certifications once requirements have been successfully completed.
➢ Review Incidents: Assist leadership with reviewing vehicle damage, accidents, near misses, and other transportation-related incidents to identify what occurred and determine appropriate follow-up.
➢ Support Operations: Assist with moving units between lots, service areas, and staging zones to keep workflow efficient.
➢ Prepare for Transport: Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure units are road-ready and safely secured.
➢ Maintain Accountability: Help ensure drivers follow company policies, safety procedures, communication protocols, and established vehicle-handling standards.
➢ Promote Safety: Reinforce safe driving and vehicle-handling practices and communicate safety concerns to leadership.
➢ Maintain Organization: Help keep parking areas, drive lanes, and staging zones organized and accessible.
➢ Represent the Brand: Interact professionally with customers, vendors, drivers, and team members, reflecting The RV Shop’s commitment to hospitality and excellence.
Who You Are
➢ A reliable, safety-focused driver with strong attention to detail and a commitment to doing things the right way.
➢ An experienced driver who is comfortable operating larger vehicles; CDL is not required (CDL holders encouraged to apply).
➢ Possesses a valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Card or is willing and able to obtain one.
➢ A natural leader who can train, support, and hold team members accountable while maintaining positive working relationships.
➢ Highly organized and able to coordinate multiple drivers, assignments, pickups, and drop-offs simultaneously.
➢ A strong communicator who proactively keeps drivers and leadership informed.
➢ Comfortable addressing unexpected situations, delays, incidents, and performance concerns in a professional manner.
➢ Able to lift 60 lbs., kneel, bend, and twist as required.
➢ Flexible and dependable, with the ability to adapt to changing schedules and travel needs.
➢ Someone who takes ownership of responsibilities and follows through without constant supervision.
➢ A professional who takes pride in representing The RV Shop on the road and within the team.
