Job Summary

The Root Cafe is seeking a friendly and dependable Cashier to support daily cafe operations and provide excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will process customer transactions accurately, assist with orders, and help maintain a clean and organized checkout area.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide friendly, professional service.
• Process cash, credit card, and other approved payment transactions.
• Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately.
• Enter customer orders and confirm order details when required.
• Answer basic questions about menu items, prices, and payment options.
• Provide receipts and handle transactions according to cafe procedures.
• Keep the checkout counter and customer service area clean and organized.
• Coordinate with cafe team members to help ensure accurate order fulfillment.
• Restock supplies and assist with light cleaning when needed.
• Report transaction discrepancies or customer concerns to a supervisor.

Qualifications

• Previous cashier or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
• Basic math and communication skills.
• Friendly attitude and a customer-focused approach.
• Ability to handle transactions accurately and responsibly.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work in a busy cafe environment.
• Availability for scheduled shifts, including weekends when needed.
