Company Summary:
- The Roost Training Center is a job training and community outings day program for adults with developmental disabilities. The Roost believes, when given the respect, time, and skills - our participants can demonstrate amazing amounts of potential. Our program looks at every moment as a learning opportunity- a time for participants to learn concrete life skills. This includes everything from conflict resolution techniques and emotional regulation, to advocating for themselves socially and professionally.
General Summary:
- Working in a collaborative environment, you will assist all clients with social awareness, self-advocacy, behavioral support, and prevocational work. You will work on promoting independence while giving guidance through verbal, gestural, and physical cues both on-site and in the community.
- Times of program: Monday – Thursday 8am-4:30pm;
- Salary: $18.00 - $22.00 an hour
Community Outings Summary:
- While exploiting different aspects of our community staff will facilitate purposeful and meaningful interactions with clients and their community.
- Some of our outings include: museums, nature trails, restaurants, pottery, workout classes, bowling etc.
- Get out and have some fun! Staff will use a fun engaging activity to help foster independence and promote community integration, aiding in the understanding between participants and community members.

General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supply one-on-one, small group, or whole instruction and guidance for adults with developmental disabilities
- Provide support for clients when creating products in our prevocational program
- Assist all in becoming socially integrated, with each other and the community by playing social games and having open conversations with clients
- Encourage independence during work and transition times
- Be open to support clients on all work crews (product, woodshop, stationery, and garden)
- Work to limit disruption in the workplace and help the environment stay calm and inviting
- Observe behaviors of clients and assist in management when asked
- Consult and collaborate with other staff members
- Build relationships with clients, staff, as well as client’s families
- Complete appropriate paperwork, such as data tracking, work rating and timesheets for clients
- General cleaning of the facilities
- Transport clients
- Open to any and all other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director of The Roost
Community Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain participant health and safety
- Foster independence while engaging with their community (i.e. staff does not order coffee for the participant, the participant orders their own coffee)
- Place participant dignity at the forefront of all activities/outings
- Maintain a positive upbeat attitude
- Ability to think quickly and pivot plans
- Effective and efficient communication in a fast paced environment

Qualifications:
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities (preferred)
- High School diploma (or equivalent)
- 18 years of age
