Position Overview
The Family Assistant will support the smooth daily operation of a busy household by focusing on home organization, light housekeeping, laundry, grocery shopping, errands, and household supply management. This role is key to creating and maintaining an orderly, functional, and welcoming environment for the family of four. Deep cleaning is handled by an outside service, so the emphasis is on upkeep, tidiness, and organization.
Key Responsibilities
Home Organization & Household Management
- Help establish and maintain organized systems throughout the home (closets, pantry, storage rooms, children’s spaces, laundry areas, garage, bathrooms, etc.).
- Perform weekly upkeep to maintain established organizational systems and ensure all areas remain functional and clutter-free.
- Maintain household inventory including groceries, supplies, toiletries, cleaning products, and pantry items; proactively restock as necessary to avoid shortages.
- Assist with seasonal organization projects such as decluttering, rotating wardrobes, and reorganizing storage areas.
Family Laundry
- Wash, dry, fold, and neatly put away family laundry.
- Monitor clothing and household textiles for needed repairs or replacements.
Grocery Shopping, Errands & Household Supply Support
- Perform weekly grocery shopping according to family preferences and meal needs.
- Run errands as needed, including dry cleaning drop-off/pick-up, pharmacy pick-ups, returns and exchanges, and specialty store visits.
- Track pantry, refrigerator, and household supply levels; proactively restock to avoid shortages.
- Keep shopping lists current and anticipate upcoming household needs.
Light Housekeeping & Household Upkeep
- Change and launder children’s bedroom linens weekly and master bedroom linens biweekly.
- Perform general surface cleaning in kitchens, bathrooms, and living areas (wiping counters, tidying spaces, managing dishwasher, etc.).
- Maintain a clean and organized home between deep cleaning services (scheduled biweekly).
- Reset and tidy shared spaces daily, including making beds, organizing toys, and returning items to their proper places.
Family Support & Occasional Childcare
- Provide occasional childcare support when needed — such as caring for a child home from school sick, supervising during date nights, or stepping in for short periods when parents are unavailable.
- Ensure children’s comfort and safety, follow household routines, and communicate any updates to parents.

- Previous household support experience preferred.
