The Dean of Curriculum is a key academic leader responsible for overseeing, developing, and implementing the instructional programs and curriculum at St. Bonaventure High School. In alignment with the Catholic mission of the school and the educational standards of the Diocese of Los Angeles, the Dean ensures that all students are challenged academically, spiritually formed, and prepared for college and lifelong learning. This role works closely with faculty, department chairs, and administration to promote a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead the ongoing review, development, and implementation of a rigorous, faith-integrated curriculum for grades 9–12.
  • Ensure alignment of curriculum with diocesan guidelines, state standards (California Common Core), and college readiness expectations.
  • Collaborate with department chairs and faculty to design interdisciplinary programs and integrate Catholic identity across subjects.
  • Monitor instructional practices to ensure they reflect best practices in pedagogy, technology integration, and differentiated instruction.
  • In regards to Faculty support and professional development, this person would be expected to support teachers in curriculum delivery, instructional strategies, and assessment practices. Also organize and lead professional development sessions focused on curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and Catholic education.
  • Mentor faculty to enhance instructional effectiveness and student outcomes and conduct classroom observations providing constructive feedback to faculty.
  • In regards to assessment and data analysis this role will oversee student assessment programs to measure achievement, growth, and curriculum effectiveness, analyze academic data (standardized tests, formative/summative assessments, course performance) to inform curriculum decisions and instructional improvements.
  • They will work with counselors and academic teams to identify students’ learning needs and implement support strategies.
  • Other job responsibilities also include, Catholic mission and student formation to ensure that curriculum and instructional programs reflect the Catholic identity of the school.
  • Also promote integration of faith, service, and moral formation in all areas of the curriculum. Collaborate with Campus Ministry and other leaders to support the holistic development of students.
  • Administrative duties include serving as a member of the academic leadership team and contribute to school-wide strategic planning.
  • Assist with scheduling, course offerings, and academic policies.
  • Support accreditation processes and diocesan reporting requirements.
  • Communicate with parents regarding curriculum, academic standards, and student progress.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field preferred.
  • Valid California teaching credential preferred; optional but a plus to have administrative credential.
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience; experience in curriculum leadership or administration strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of Catholic education and commitment to fostering Catholic identity in students.
  • Strong knowledge of college preparatory curriculum, California state standards, and assessment practices.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead and inspire faculty while fostering collaboration and innovation.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
