The World Language – French Teacher works collaboratively with teacher colleagues to provide an intellectually challenging, creative and differentiated educational program for learners. The World Language – French Teacher is responsible for coordinating instruction using developmentally appropriate best curricular approaches.
Role:
Bachelor’s degree in Education with emphasis on French or related field and three to five years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salaries for the position are based on education and years of classroom teaching experience. Starting salaries with a Bachelor's degree from 41K. Starting salaries with a Master’s degree from 45K.

The World Language – French Teacher works collaboratively with teacher colleagues to provide an intellectually challenging, creative and differentiated educational program for learners. The World Language – French Teacher is responsible for coordinating instruction using developmentally appropriate best curricular approaches.
Role:
- Use Modern World Language best practices to teach French to Elementary and Middle School students
- Implement an academically strong, child-centered and differentiated curriculum to gifted students
- Provide proficiency-based program with emphasis on communication.
- Educate using methodologies of teaching language with comprehensible input
- Identify and meet the diverse needs of learners by being flexible and using creative approaches
- Collaborate with school French department faculty to develop scope and sequence of French program
- Facilitate the social and emotional development of the students in mixed-age classes
- Utilize a variety of instructional and assessment methods, integrated use of technology, and excellent communication skills
- Share student progress with parents through communication including conferences and progress reports
- Collaborate with classroom teachers on cross-curricular units to support student development
- Embrace and implement a multicultural and culturally relevant curriculum
- Maintain effective communication with teachers, colleagues and administration
- Collaborate with faculty on school wide initiatives and support of education
- Support World Languages program and the school to meet overall mission of The Roeper School
- Fluency in the French language required
- Proficiency in Spanish or another world language preferred
- Utilize American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) standards
- Classroom teaching experience
- Excellent instructional and communication skills
- Knowledge or experience working with gifted learners
- Ability to form collaborative work relationships
- Demonstrated commitment to cultural competency work in order to perform responsibilities perform responsibilities in accordance with Roeper's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- A collegial approach and congenial temperament
