Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Must have experience in turnover documentation, and as-built's/ turnover packages.

Very proficient in computer skills and related software

• Review of specifications and drawings.

• Producing and tracking of all documentation from the beginning of a job to the end.

The responsibility of a Mechanical Quality Control (QC) Inspector is to ensure that mechanical components, systems, and processes comply with established quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. Their duties typically include:

1. Inspection and Testing

Conduct inspections of mechanical components, assemblies, and systems.

Perform dimensional, visual, and non-destructive testing (NDT) to verify quality.

Ensure equipment and materials meet design and specification requirements.

2. Documentation

Review and maintain inspection and test records.

Verify material test certificates, welding documents, and equipment calibration records.

Prepare and submit inspection reports and non-conformance reports (NCRs) if necessary.

3. Compliance Verification

Ensure compliance with international and industry standards such as ASME, API, or ISO.

Verify adherence to project drawings, specifications, and codes.

4. Monitoring and Oversight

Oversee fabrication, assembly, and installation activities.

Monitor welding, machining, and other mechanical processes to ensure quality.

5. Problem Resolution

Identify and report defects or non-conformities.

Collaborate with engineers and production teams to resolve quality issues.

6. Preventive Actions

Conduct root cause analysis for recurring quality issues.

Recommend process improvements to minimize defects and enhance quality.

7. Health and Safety

Ensure adherence to safety procedures during inspections and testing.

Promote a safe working environment by addressing potential hazards.

8. Communication

Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients regarding quality concerns.

Participate in quality audits and meetings to align quality goals.

Core Responsibilities

  • Inspection & Testing: Conduct dimensional, visual, and functional inspections of piping, pressure vessels, tanks, and mechanical equipment (such as pumps and valves).
  • Code Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to strict regulatory and industry codes, such as the Piping and Mechanical Quality Control (QC) Inspector Course standards (e.g., ASME B31).
  • Welding & NDT: Oversee welding procedures, verify welder qualifications, and interpret Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
  • Quality Reporting: Complete Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), sign off on mechanical completion, and issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for any defects or deviations.
  • Technical Skills: The ability to read complex isometrics, blueprints, and P&IDs, alongside proficiency in using precision measuring

Education and/or Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Five year minimum experience working within the quality inspection industry.

Certifications such as CWI, UT level II, RT level II, LPT Level II a plus but not required.

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee must be able to:

Climb ladders, platforms, stairs.
Work in confined areas such as inside tanks or other vessels.
Work from a man lift at various heights.
Work at various heights.
Work in an industrial atmosphere that will involve noise, cranes, welding, grinding, moving of heavy equipment, etc.
Maintain balance working on cylindrical or angular shaped fabrications.
Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Possibly work in extreme weather conditions. Indoor and outdoor work. Shop fabrication areas and field industrial sites that may involve climbing stairs, ladders and vessels.

Personal Attributes:

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate well at all levels of the organization.

• Ability to multi-task on a large scale level is critical.
