Paws Up Montana is seeking Activities Guides & Logistics Specialists to add to our team. The role of the Activities Guide & Logistics Specialist is to provide, lead, and operationally support guests on recreational expeditions via off-roading, shooting, electric biking, ropes challenge courses, go-karting, and water activities. This dual-purpose role balances elite wilderness guiding with critical, property-wide runner and logistical support to ensure flawless execution of all resort adventures.

This position starts at $18 an hour and goes up from there depending on experience.

The Primary Functions are:

  • Lead & Instruct Adventures: Lead guests on go-karts, archery, electric biking, challenge courses, off-roading, skeet shooting, river, and lake expeditions. Perform safety briefings and technical instruction of each guided activity to participants.
  • Independent & Co-Guiding: Lead expeditions independently for a maximum of four to eight attendees; co-lead expeditions for a maximum of twenty-four attendees.
  • Watercraft Operation: Pilot a river raft down Class II and (very limited) Class III whitewater. Operate and give instruction in inflatable kayaking Class II & III rapids and flat-water canoeing.
  • Powerboat & Jet Ski Management: Operate and pilot a ski/powerboat while towing a water-skier (wakeboarder, etc.) on a medium-sized lake. Provide safety and operation instruction on riding a Personal Watercraft (jet ski) and behind ski/powerboat to guests.
  • Wheeled & Trail Expeditions: Lead and ride on single-track, jeep trails, log roads, and dirt roads as well as giving instruction to all ability levels on mountain bikes, Off-Road Vehicles (ORVs) and All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs).
  • Firearm Safety: Instruct and perform firearm safety with guests utilizing 20-gauge & 12-gauge shotguns, .22 Long Rifles, and compound bows for archery.
  • Hiking & Ropes: Guide hikes with an emphasis on naturalism on property and Lubrecht Experimental Forest. Instruct and guide guests on ropes courses and a 150-foot rappel.
  • Logistics & Fleet Operations: Operate company vehicles properly, provide proper vehicle operation instruction to guests, and safely handle property-wide runner duties (transporting gear, supplies, and guests to outposts). Perform weekly vehicle inspections and deep cleans to maintain fleet presentation standards.
  • Preparation & Equipment Care: Perform physical and administrative duties for the preparation and end of each activity expedition. Assist in managing inventory of Activities Department equipment and supplies, including the setup, breakdown, cleaning, and maintenance of all gear.
  • Guest Health & Welfare: Keep close attention to guests in relation to health-related matters such as physical exertion, sunstroke, and reminding guests to hydrate and to apply sunscreen. Administer basic First Aid and CPR when needed and during emergency situations.
  • Luxury Service & Inclusion: Work with a variety of personalities and ages to make clients feel safe and comfortable, while delivering information in an understandable manner with respect to individual learning preferences and Forbes-aligned luxury standards.
  • Composure & Adaptability: Remain calm under pressure; handle crisis management as it unfolds and remain flexible to change as events happen.
  • Organization & Detail: Be organized and detail-oriented, utilizing daily department checklists or other systems to ensure no task is left undone; anticipate events, plan, and prepare for the unexpected while remaining focused on the result.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration: Work closely with Activities management, co-workers, and other departments (such as Basecamp or Concierge) on providing effective communication, planning, and organization to ensure all activity/runner needs are met. Be helpful, respectful, approachable, and team-oriented.
  • Administration & Communications: Assist guests in filling out appropriate departmental forms and ensure confidentiality before and throughout their stay. Answer phones in a timely and courteous manner following company etiquette standards.
  • Guest Relations: Possess a strong customer service focus, converse with guests at a high level, promote property activities, maintain up-to-date awareness of resort amenities, and handle guest issues accurately and promptly.
  • Work Environment Maintenance: Perform department opening and closing duties. Maintain a clean, clear, organized, and efficient work environment.
  • General Support: Assist in other activity assignments and duties as assigned.

Looking for Team Members with:

  • High school diploma, GED, or vocational training/job-related coursework; Education in Outdoor Recreation preferred, not required.
  • Creditable experience in teaching and/or outdoor guiding, alongside comfort backing up trailers and loading/unloading heavy recreational equipment.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in customer service or luxury hospitality environments.
  • Proficient ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment while remaining organized and prioritizing workload throughout the day.
  • A friendly, professional, and polished manner under periods of high demand and when interacting with guests, team members, and management.
  • Valid CPR/First Aid Certification (Wilderness First Responder or WFA is a plus).
  • Valid State Driver’s License with a minimum of two years of driving experience and a clean, insurable record.
