The Resort at Longboat Key Club is seeking a dedicated and experienced Golf Grounds Superintendent to oversee the maintenance and care of our premier golf course located in Longboat Key, FL. This role demands a strong background in turfgrass management, attention to detail, and a passion for maintaining world-class golf course conditions to enhance both playability and aesthetic appeal.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain all turfgrass areas including greens, tees, fairways, and roughs to ensure optimal playing conditions.
- Develop and implement cultural practices such as mowing, fertilization, irrigation, aerification, topdressing, and pest control.
- Supervise, train, and motivate grounds staff to maintain high standards of course care and safety.
- Coordinate and schedule maintenance tasks to minimize disruption to play and club events.
- Work within a budget to prioritize needs and achieve company goals.
- Manage golf course equipment and inventory, ensuring proper upkeep and repair.
- Collaborate with club management and golf professionals to meet member expectations and support special events.
- Monitor weather and turf conditions and adjust maintenance practices accordingly.
- Maintain compliance with all environmental regulations and promote sustainable practices.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience at a top-tier, nationally recognized course or equivalent luxury facility is required.
- Proven experience as a Golf Grounds Superintendent or similar role within golf course maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of turfgrass science, pest management, irrigation systems, and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to lead and manage a diverse team effectively.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Relevant certifications in turf management or agronomy preferred.
- Availability to work flexible hours including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
- Valid driver’s license.
- English & Spanish speaker preferred but not required.
