Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure resident health and well-being
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed schedules and document all medication administration in electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Provide specialized care for residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, employing memory care techniques and behavior management strategies
- Support residents during meal preparation, feeding, and hydration to promote proper nutrition and hydration habits
- Assist with light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident rooms and common areas to maintain a safe and sanitary environment
- Engage residents in social activities and recreational programs to enhance their emotional well-being and social interaction
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments is highly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of long-term care practices, including Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, and senior care techniques
- Experience working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring personal support services
- Familiarity with EMR systems for documentation of resident care activities
- Valid certification in first aid and CPR is advantageous; ongoing training in medication administration and behavior management is a plus
- Proven ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively while maintaining resident safety
- Driving experience is beneficial for supporting resident outings or appointments
