What are the responsibilities and job description for the Busser position at The Republic?
Main Responsibilities for a Busser:
- Clear off and clean tables so they are ready for next customers
- Keep the tables supplied with tableware, linens, and condiments
- Assist customers when necessary
Busser Job Description:
As a buss person, you will keep the dining area of the restaurant, the server stations, and the
preparation areas clean, sanitized, stocked, and organized. You may also assist customers when the server or host/hostess needs additional help. Your main duties will include removing dishes (plates and flatware) from the tables and washing them. You will be asked to reset and prepare tables, assists with unloading delivery trucks, clean cook stations, kitchen appliances, and machines.
Responsibilities of a Busser:
- Bussing tables to collect soiled plates and flatware
- Maintaining the availability of clean dishes at all times
- Cleaning kitchen appliances and machines
- Helping other team members to unload and store deliveries
- Assist other staff members with tasks when the need arises
- Adhere to food safety procedures and regulations
- Taking out the trash
- Rinsing garbage cans
- Clean up spills, broken dishes, and trash from the tables and floors
- Fill beverage and ice dispensers
- Keep a sufficient supply of linens, tableware, dishes, and other items
- available for servers and other bussers
- Keep condiment containers adequately stocked
- Replace table linens when they become soiled
- Vacuum or map the restaurant floors
- Clean, dust, and polish tables, shelves, walls, and other areas in the
- restaurant
- Additional responsibilities as assigned or requested by management
Busser Job Requirements:
- Must be proficient in operating with different types of dishes
- Must know and follow all food safety procedures
- Must have communication skills
- Must be able to prioritize tasks
- Ability to make fast and repetitive movements with hands and wrists
- Perform physically demanding activities, including carrying, lifting, stooping, etc.
- Read and understand instructions on how to use cleaning chemicals properly
