We are seeking a focused, tech-savvy, Forward-Thinking, STRONG leader that is looking to take their career to the next level. As a General Sales Manager you will be responsible for directing the operations, sales performance, and customer satisfaction of the new, used, internet, and finance departments. General Sales Manager is responsible for working with Advisors and Clients to maximize sales volume and profitability, and maintain successful associate recruiting and growth, all while continually delivering excellent customer experiences. This position will require hands-on, coaching, and the development of fellow team members. This role is NOT for someone who is looking to sit in an office/sales desk and manage from a chair, but rather an active team member who is managing all aspects of variable operations from desking, coaching and developing, managing inventory, managing CITs, and much more. Must be willing to do whatever is necessary to be successful and achieve the company's goals.
What are the day-to-day responsibilities?
- Leading yourself and the team in a way that supports the company's Vision and Mission
- Setting a clear vision and goals for the sales team to achieve targeted performance in new and used vehicle sales, financial services product sales, and overall sales profit
- Engaging and motivating the team to achieve key goals, performance expectations, and the company's best practice processes
- Driving the business through a high level of involvement in the day-to-day operations
- Managing the negotiation and financing processes with Sales Advisors/Experience Advisors ensuring that customers understand their vehicle purchase options and pricing
- Leading the Used Vehicle Department including inventory management, merchandising, pricing, and the reconditioning process.
- Managing all three areas of customer traffic: Showroom, E-Commerce, and Phones
- Develop a plan and manage new and used vehicle inventory that meets the expectation of the company
- Assisting in managing controllable expense elements for the New and Used Vehicle Departments
- Analyzing the business to determine shortfalls and developing action plans to improve performance

What are the requirements for this job?

- Automotive General Sales Manager management experience
- Tech-Savvy is a must

- Valid in-state driver’s license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record
- Must have strong F&I background and understand all state and federal laws
- Prior New Car Manager & Used Car Experience is required
- Strong computer skills (Internet, MS Outlook, G-Suite, CRM’s, Dealertrack DMS)
- Must understand inventory control 45- 60 day turn policy
- Desk deals for sales professionals and takes T.O.’s to maximize the deal potentially
- Must be able to pass pre-employment screens (background & drug screen)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Make a monthly projection of the vehicle requirements by department for the immediate 90-day sales period.
- Determine monthly and yearly forecasts in terms of unit sales, gross profit objectives, and departmental profits.
- Forecast monthly with each salesperson to establish objectives in terms of the number and type of customers coming into the dealership, closing percentages in each category, time utilization, prospecting efforts, unit sales, and projected income.
- Assist in procedures for short-and long-range advertising, sales promotions, staffing needs, lease promotions, compensation plans, customer complaints, salespersons’ evaluations, and car rentals.
- Meet with each salesperson as early as possible every day to review yesterday’s results and today’s plan of action.
- Conduct sales meetings.
- Be willing to Desk Deals while achieving company's KPIs for gross and volume
- Provide on-the-job training for salespeople (CRM, Sales processes)
- Ensure that salespeople are following an established prospecting program to obtain optimum results, coaching, and working one on one with sales employees.
- Review monthly commission sheets, productivity reports, salespersons’ monthly forecasts, and profit performance with the Dealer by salesperson and as a department.
- Maintain a balanced vehicle inventory and establish a program for moving used cars in inventory working
- Ensure that every prospect is thanked personally.
- Assist F&I in closing deals
- Keep an accurate count of floor traffic.
- Implement and monitor Factory Standards and programs to achieve 100% Customer Satisfaction.
- Conduct and document ongoing refresher safety training within the sales department.
- Ensure that sales department employees follow safety policies and practices and that they report any and all accidents immediately.
- Must follow all company safety policies and procedures, and immediately report any and all accidents to a manager or supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Must be legally and technically able to safely operate Company and customer-owned vehicles.
- Must be insurable by the Company insurance carrier.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
- High school diploma or the equivalent.
- Seven or more years of automotive sales experience.
- Four or more years in a dealership management position.
- Excellent communication skills. Excellent managerial skills.
