IP Litigation Associate

A leading intellectual property practice with a nationally recognized technology litigation group is seeking mid‑level to senior associates for its computer hardware and software litigation team. This role is based in the firm’s Northern California office.

We are looking for attorneys with 4–6 years of substantive patent litigation experience, including hands‑on involvement in inter partes review (IPR) or other post‑grant proceedings. Candidates must bring at least four years of strong litigation training and a demonstrated ability to manage complex technical matters. A technical undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field is required. Exceptional writing and analytical skills are essential. USPTO registration is a plus but not mandatory.

This group operates at the intersection of advanced computing, electronics, and emerging technologies, supporting clients whose innovations shape global markets. The practice advises on the full lifecycle of intellectual property protection—litigation, post‑grant strategy, patent development, and technology counseling.

The team includes roughly 100 professionals with deep technical backgrounds across electrical engineering, computer science, and related disciplines. Many attorneys have prior industry experience, enabling the group to handle matters involving a wide range of technologies, including semiconductors, networking, encryption, digital media, telecommunications, and other complex hardware/software systems.

Clients rely on the firm for its ability to anticipate challenges, navigate sophisticated disputes, and deliver practical, business‑aligned solutions in fast‑moving technology sectors.

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $310,000–$390,000, depending on experience, skill set, and location. The firm also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, financial, and other employee programs.
