Job Summary
The Restaurant Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for dishes, glassware, utensils, cookware, kitchen equipment, and food preparation areas. This position plays a vital role in supporting kitchen operations by ensuring a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Dishwashing & Sanitation
- Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils using commercial dishwashing equipment.
- Properly sort, stack, and store clean items in designated areas.
- Ensure all items are cleaned and sanitized according to health department standards.
- Inspect cleaned items for cleanliness and rewash as necessary.
Kitchen Cleanliness
- Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing stations, sinks, floors, walls, and kitchen work areas.
- Empty trash and recycling containers throughout shifts and at closing.
- Sweep and mop kitchen floors regularly.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment as directed.
Support Kitchen Operations
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
- Organize storage areas and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies.
- Help kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks when needed.
- Transport supplies and equipment throughout the property as required.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company policies, food safety regulations, and sanitation procedures.
- Properly handle cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Report maintenance issues, broken equipment, or safety concerns immediately.
- Wear required uniforms and personal protective equipment.
Qualifications
- Previous dishwashing or kitchen experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to cleanliness and detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting.
- Ability to work in hot, wet, and humid conditions.
Schedule Requirements
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
- Ability to work overtime as needed during busy periods.
