The ReCONNstruction Center is a nonprofit architectural salvage store dedicated to reuse, sustainability, and community access to affordable building materials. We are seeking a motivated, hands-on Assistant Store Manager to help lead day-to-day operations and support the mission of reuse.
This role reports directly to the Board of Directors and plays a key part in maintaining store organization, supporting customers, and growing donations and sales.
Schedule & Compensation
- Part-time: ~20 hours/week (Friday–Sunday)
- Pay: $20/hour
- Opportunity for increased hours and compensation based on store growth, sales performance, and operational success
Duties
- The board may occasionally assign addl responsibilities or special projects as needed. The main focus of this position is:
- Carry out operational goals and directives set by the Board
- Provide excellent customer service and assist customers in locating materials
- Organize and maintain store inventory (doors, windows, cabinets, hardware, etc.)
- Track materials, donations, and sales with attention to detail
- Support and coordinate donation intake and donor relationships
- Conduct outreach to solicit donations from contractors, businesses, and community members
- Recruit, integrate, oversee, and direct volunteers in daily store operations
- Support volunteer engagement, task delegation, and workflow coordination
- Assist with merchandising and store layout to improve sales and customer experience
- Maintain a safe, clean, and functional warehouse environment
Experience
- Qualifications
- Experience or familiarity with construction materials, tools, or DIY projects preferred
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to lead and coordinate volunteers in a collaborative environment
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in a lightly structured environment
- Comfortable in a physically demanding role
