What are the responsibilities and job description for the Real Estate Attorney/In-House Legal Counsel position at The Real Estate Service Center?

The Real Estate Service Center (TRESC) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented In-House Attorney to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring smooth real estate transactions by providing legal support and expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze real estate abstracts and prepare accurate title commitments and title opinions
- Review documents for title clearing to ensure compliance with all legal requirements.
- Draft, review, and revise various real estate transfer documents and other title clearing documents.
- Assist with resolving company legal issues as needed.
- Stay up-to-date on current real estate laws and regulations.
- Oversee the staff and operations at The Real Estate Service Center
In addition to core legal duties, provide guidance and support on HR matters as they arise. This may include:
- Assisting with employee terminations
- Advising on compliance with employment laws
- Partnering with external legal counsel for complex issues
Qualifications:
- Active Iowa Law License
- Degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the Iowa State Bar Association
- Must get approved with Iowa Title Guaranty to write title commitments under them
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in real estate law, title insurance, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Products
