The Real Estate Council (TREC) is a nonprofit, professional organization for the commercial real estate industry. We connect members across the industry through networking, leadership development, community investment and advocacy.


Leadership is essential to the long-term sustainability of our industry and our community. It is essential we provide programs and services that assist in talent recruitment and retention for our member companies. Our purpose is to provide connections that impact careers, companies, and communities. 


This is a full-time, in-office position based in Dallas, TX.


Position

The Leadership Development Manager manages TREC’s leadership development programs and committees, including the Associate Leadership Council (ALC), Young Guns Core Committee, Leadership Alumni, Mentorship Program, and DEI Leadership Committee. This role serves as the primary staff liaison to volunteer leaders and advances TREC’s leadership strategy through programming, member engagement, and volunteer management.


The Manager oversees planning, recruitment, budgets, and evaluation while strengthening TREC’s leadership continuum and member experience. Working across departments, the role ensures initiatives align with organizational goals and develop future industry and community leaders.

  • Physical Requirements: Requires prolonged standing, prolonged stationary position, frequent walking or movement, and the ability to lift objects weighing up to 20 lbs.



Essential Functions

Manage and provide strategic oversight for TREC’s Leadership Development initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission, priorities, and member needs. Serve as primary staff liaison for ALC, Young Guns Core Committee, Leadership Alumni, Mentorship Program, DEI Leadership Committee, and related initiatives.


Lead planning, execution, evaluation, and improvement of leadership programs that strengthen engagement, cultivate leaders, and enhance TREC membership value. Partner with volunteers to set goals, develop programming, recruit participants, and measure outcomes.


Identify opportunities to expand TREC’s leadership continuum and create meaningful pathways for members at every career stage. Build relationships with members, volunteers, industry leaders, and community stakeholders to advance participation and organizational objectives.


Exercise sound judgment and initiative in managing programs, volunteers, budgets, and priorities. Maintain professionalism, organization, and clear communication while collaborating with staff, board members, volunteers, and partners to deliver an excellent member and volunteer experience.


Skill Requirements

Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Salesforce/CRM database management (Nimble), and Adobe Creative Suite. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.


Special Requirements

Local travel, evening, and some weekend work required. Must have a current driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to set up and run meetings and events, including meeting related physical demands.


Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 1–3 years of experience in program management, leadership development, volunteer management, membership organizations, nonprofit associations, corporate training, talent development, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing committees, volunteer leaders, boards, or advisory groups.
  • Experience developing, planning, and executing educational, leadership development, or professional development programs and events.
  • Ability to build relationships with executive-level professionals, volunteers, sponsors, and community leaders.
  • Experience with managing budgets, tracking program performance, and evaluating outcomes.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders.
  • Experience with membership databases, CRM systems, and event registration platforms preferred (Nimble AMS/Salesforce experience a plus).
  • Knowledge of commercial real estate, workforce development, leadership development, or association management preferred.


Specific Job Duties Include


Leadership Development Strategy & Program Management

  • Lead planning, implementation, and improvement of TREC’s leadership programs aligned with organizational goals and member needs.
  • Strengthen TREC’s leadership continuum and create pathways for member engagement and growth.
  • Establish annual goals, performance measures, and success metrics for leadership development programs and committees.
  • Ensure quality programming for members at all career stages and future industry and community leaders.
  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers to identify leadership development needs and opportunities.


Volunteer and Committee Leadership

  • Serve as primary staff liaison to the ALC, Young Guns Core Committee, Leadership Alumni, DEI Leadership Committee, Mentorship Program, and other leadership initiatives as assigned.
  • Partner with volunteer leaders to set priorities, develop annual work plans, and achieve objectives.
  • Lead recruitment, selection, onboarding, and engagement for program participants and volunteer leaders.
  • Foster volunteer engagement so members feel valued, connected, and supported.


Program Oversight

Mentorship & Leadership Programs

  • Oversee the Mentorship Program, including recruitment, development, mentor engagement, and evaluation.
  • Provide direction for The Deal and other leadership programs, ensuring relevant content, strong participation, and positive member experience.
  • Collaborate with the DEI Leadership Committee to support leadership development and broaden engagement opportunities.


Associate Leadership Council (ALC)

  • Oversee ALC application and class selection process in partnership with the Steering Committee.
  • Collaborate with volunteers to deliver educational experiences on regional issues, leadership, and community engagement.
  • Manage ALC recruitment, orientation, retreats, alumni engagement, and class projects.
  • Coordinate with partners on executive coaching, class projects, and program components.


Leadership Alumni

  • Partner with Leadership Alumni volunteers to develop engagement strategies and programming.
  • Monitor alumni participation and identify opportunities to increase engagement and volunteer involvement.


Young Guns

  • Provide leadership and strategic support to the Young Guns Core Committee.
  • Oversee participant recruitment and leadership selection processes.
  • Collaborate with staff so Young Guns programming aligns with member engagement, leadership, public policy, and community investment initiatives.


Communications and Member Engagement

  • Partner with Communications to promote leadership programs, recruitment, and member engagement.
  • Represent TREC at meetings, events, and industry functions as appropriate.
  • Build relationships with members, volunteers, sponsors, and community stakeholders.


Financial and Program Performance Management

  • Develop and manage program budgets in collaboration with the Sr. Director.
  • Monitor revenue, expenses, sponsorship commitments, and participant dues to meet financial goals.
  • Evaluate performance and recommend improvements and growth opportunities.
  • Review outcomes, participation metrics, and financial results with the Sr. Director.


Leadership and Staff Support

  • Provide direction to staff supporting leadership development programs and initiatives.
  • Delegate operational and administrative work while ensuring strong execution and member service.
  • Collaborate across departments to support organizational priorities and member experience.


Additional Responsibilities

  • Represent TREC at events, meetings, and programs.
  • Support organization-wide initiatives and special projects as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as needed to advance TREC's mission and strategic objectives.
