Position Summary
Role Summary
- The Garden Room at the Historic Montana Club is seeking a detail-oriented and
hospitality-driven individual to oversee the day-to-day operations of our English Tea
Room. This role is responsible for the seamless execution of weekend service, as well
as the thoughtful care and stewardship of the space — including its linens, dishware,
décor, and inventory.
- The ideal candidate finds genuine joy in connecting with guests and creating moments
that feel personal and unhurried. Attention to detail is essential, but goes beyond
physical presentation — it means reading the room, sensing what a guest needs, and
responding with warmth and intention.
Primary Responsibilities
- Guest Experience The heart of this role is hospitality. We do not operate a transactional
service environment. Every guest should leave feeling heard, cared for, and as though
their time in the Garden Room was crafted specifically for them. Creating that sense of
ease and individual attention is the defining measure of success in this position.
- Room Setup, Breakdown & Ongoing Care Ensure tables are set to English Tea
standards and the room is clean and guest-ready at all times. Oversee proper washing,
polishing, and organization of dishes and cutlery. Monitor the condition and placement of
all décor, addressing any damage or disorganization promptly.
- Inventory Management Accurately receive and log new items upon arrival, storing them
appropriately. Conduct ongoing inventory reviews throughout the year to identify missing,
damaged, or replacement-needed items. Maintain the tea room storage area in a clean
and organized state.
- Reservations Manage weekly reservations end-to-end: confirming bookings,
maintaining the reservation sheet, making courtesy calls when needed, and recording
any special notes for in-room hosts. Communicate dietary requirements to kitchen staff
in advance of each service.
- Events Support Assist in the execution of private events, craft nights, book nights, and
etiquette classes held in the Garden Room, working under the direction of the Events
Coordinator.
- Social Media & Communications Capture photos of the room and special events to
support promotional efforts. Draft a regular newsletter highlighting upcoming events and
Garden Room news. Submit all content to the Social Media Coordinator for distribution.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during events.
- Comfortable carrying trays, tea service items, and light décor.
- Able to bend, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds as needed for event setup and breakdown.
- Must be comfortable wearing the uniform provided to maintain The Montana Club’s refined presentation standards.
