Description:
The Rasmussen Group is looking for an experienced Service Manager to oversee our Des Moines equipment service operations. This position is responsible for managing maintenance programs, shop efficiency, and technical performance.
You’ll lead a team of skilled technicians, coordinate with field operations, and play a critical role in minimizing downtime and maximizing uptime across our fleet.
What You’ll Do:
- Lean, mentor, and develop a team of shop and field technicians, fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
- Oversee daily service operations, scheduling, and long-term maintenance planning.
- Prioritize and schedule repairs and preventative maintenance to meet operational timelines.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and internal safety standards
- Review and approve work orders, invoices and parts requests for accuracy and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Equipment Manager to align maintenance with project schedules and fleet strategy
- Provide ongoing technician training and certification opportunities
- Respond to urgent repair needs or jobsite service requests as needed
- High school diploma or GED requires; technical certification or associate degree in diesel technology or fleet management preferred
- 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance, including 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong background in construction, heavy equipment, or transportation
- Expert understanding of truck and heavy equipment maintenance
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Proficient in fleet management software and reporting
- Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA and EPA regulations
- Budgeting, cost control, and vendor management experience
Additional Requirements
- Valid drivers license and acceptable MVR
- CDL a plus, or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass post-offer drug screen, physical, and background check
- Evening and weekend availability for critical repairs
- Willingness to travel between company sites as needed
