Position Summary

The Rapid Group is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll Specialist to join our team at our headquarters in Paterson, NJ. This full-time, onsite role is responsible for processing payroll accurately and efficiently while supporting compliance with company policies and applicable labor regulations.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple payroll deadlines and employee groups.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process weekly and biweekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
• Review timesheets, earnings, deductions, and payroll adjustments for accuracy
• Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data integrity
• Coordinate with HR and management regarding payroll changes, new hires, terminations, and benefits deductions
• Assist with payroll reporting, audits, and reconciliations
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• Respond to employee payroll questions in a timely and professional manner
• Support yearend payroll activities including W2 preparation and reporting
• Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information
  
  

Qualifications:

• 23 years of experience in payroll processing required
• Experience using Paychex is strongly preferred
• Understanding of prevailing wage labor laws and certified payroll requirements in New Jersey and New York is encouraged, but not required
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Strong communication and problemsolving abilities
• Equivalent payroll experience will also be considered
  
  

Education:

• Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred
