The Quarto Children’s team is seeking an experienced and creative Senior Marketing Manager, Children’s to lead the strategy and execution of marketing and publicity campaigns for our children’s publishing program. This role reports to the Director of Marketing and oversees the children’s marketing team, driving innovative, results‑focused campaigns across our diverse and growing list.
This is a highly collaborative role for a strategic marketer who loves children’s books, enjoys working directly with authors and industry partners, and brings both big‑picture thinking and hands‑on execution to every campaign.
What You’ll Do
Publicity & Campaign Strategy
- Develop and execute dynamic, creative, and results‑driven marketing and publicity campaigns for 40–50 children’s books per year.
- Serve as lead marketer on select major titles, confidently pitching to targeted media and building strong relationships with children’s media contacts across print, online, and broadcast.
- Write press releases, create media kits, build targeted media lists, and secure standout coverage for children’s titles.
- Partner with in‑house and external publicists as needed to maximize campaign reach.
- Communicate media coverage internally and externally with enthusiasm and clarity, keeping authors and agents informed and engaged.
- Plan and manage author tours, including pitching, logistics, budgeting, and execution.
- Cultivate relationships with indie bookstores, schools, libraries, and event teams to support author signings and appearances.
- Build ongoing relationships with authors and internal teams to generate excitement for new and upcoming titles.
Marketing & Discoverability
- Develop and oversee organic social media strategies for assigned titles to drive reach, engagement, and visibility.
- Collaborate with the broader marketing team on category‑wide initiatives and influencer partnerships.
- Maintain and update metadata, review quotes, and marketing copy to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
- Plan and manage digital advertising campaigns across relevant industry and consumer platforms.
- Develop and execute preorder campaigns to build early momentum and awareness.
- Analyze and report on campaign performance, assessing impact on sales over daily, weekly, and monthly timeframes.
- Partner closely with Digital Demand & Discoverability, Sales, and Publishing teams to execute integrated campaigns.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and support the Children’s Marketing Manager and Children’s Marketing Assistant, fostering creativity, growth, and accountability.
- Strategically manage and allocate budgets to maximize ROI across campaigns.
- Drive cross‑functional alignment by clearly communicating initiatives, priorities, and results to internal stakeholders.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3 years of experience planning and executing marketing and publicity campaigns, ideally in book publishing.
- Highly creative, with a passion for developing innovative marketing strategies—especially in digital spaces.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence pitching both internally and externally.
- Proven ability to collaborate closely with Publishing, Sales, and Author teams.
- Exceptionally organized and detail‑oriented, with strong time‑management and multitasking skills.
- Experience with author care and communication.
- Knowledge of media, publicity, and book publishing landscapes.
- Familiarity with the art, craft, and design market and related enthusiast communities.
- Comfortable adapting in a fast‑changing environment.
- Willingness to travel for trade shows, conventions, and author events as needed.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Cision, Edelweiss, and Box/Dropbox preferred.
- Existing relationships with independent bookstores are a plus.
