Job Summary
Contractor Quality Control/Quality Assurance Inspector with public works and heavy civil construction experience is responsible for ensuring that construction activities and materials comply with approved plans, specifications, governing agency standards, and quality requirements. Inspectors perform comprehensive construction inspection and materials testing services to support aviation, roadway, bridge, civil, underground utilities and structural projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
· Perform quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) inspections for construction projects, including roadway, bridge, civil, and structural elements.
· Inspect construction activities and materials for compliance with contract documents, approved submittals, project specifications, and applicable agency standards (e.g., Caltrans, FDOT).
· Conduct materials sampling and testing as required, including concrete, asphalt, soils, aggregates, and reinforcing steel.
· Document inspection findings accurately through daily reports, test results, non-conformance reports, and corrective action documentation.
· Coordinate with contractors, engineers, project managers, and agency representatives to resolve quality issues and ensure timely corrective actions.
· Perform simultaneous inspections of multiple construction elements when required, supporting efficient project delivery and cost-effective inspection programs.
· Ensure adherence to safety requirements, environmental regulations, and company quality policies always.
· Support project closeout activities, including final inspections and documentation review.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and testing procedures
- Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Proficient in field documentation and electronic reporting systems
Work Environment
Field-based role requiring work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- May require travel to multiple project sites
- Physical requirements may include walking on uneven terrain, standing for extended periods, and lifting inspection equipment
Education/Certifications:
· ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician (Grade I)
· ACI Strength Testing Technician
· NICET
· ICC-Building Inspector, Reinforced Concrete Inspector, Structural Masonry Inspector
