Position Summary

QCC NJ is leading and rapidly growing premium cultivator, co-manufacturer and co-packer of cannabis products. The Facilities Manager will oversee the service, maintenance, safety, ongoing construction and operational efficiency of our cannabis production facilities while also serving as the primary point of contact for all visiting contractors. This role is critical in ensuring that all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, as well as the facility’s infrastructure, operate effectively to meet productivity and compliance standards. The Facility Manager will take on a leadership role in the maintenance department, providing hands-on support as needed and troubleshooting issues without reliance on third-party contractors whenever possible. Additionally, the Facility Manager will oversee facility projects, ensuring that all maintenance-related initiatives are completed on time and within budget. This position reports to the Production Operations Manager.


As a cannabis start-up with ongoing construction, this role will also be responsible for assisting in project planning and execution related to new facility installations and upgrades, ensuring seamless integration of new systems with existing operations. This includes coordinating with contractors, tracking project progress, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.


Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all facility equipment, MEP systems, and infrastructure to ensure efficient operation and productivity targets.
  • Serve as the primary on-site contact for all contractors and vendors, meeting them upon arrival and overseeing their work to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Manage and oversee all maintenance-related projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules and processes to minimize downtime and maximize equipment efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot maintenance issues independently, ensuring minimal reliance on external contractors.
  • Lead and mentor the maintenance team, ensuring a high level of accountability and performance.
  • Track and maintain spare parts inventory, ensuring readiness for emergency repairs.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of repairs, site drawings, and equipment files.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and compliance with OSHA, state, federal, and local regulations.
  • Develop and oversee an accident prevention plan, including fire safety, evacuation, and facility SOPs.
  • Work collaboratively with compliance, security, and transportation teams to align maintenance efforts with operational needs.
  • Provide logistical support for production functions, including supply procurement and distribution logistics.
  • Oversee capital improvement projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Manage vendor relationships, service agreements, and repair schedules, ensuring cost-effective solutions and quality work.
  • Monitor and report on facility metrics related to downtime, maintenance costs, and operational improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education:

·      High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.

·      A combination of education and experience will be considered.

 

Experience:

·      5 years of facility maintenance management experience.

·      Experience managing projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and contractor oversight.

·      Understanding of proper and safe handling of hazardous materials.

·      General knowledge of equipment and facilities upkeep, with a focus on industrial, MEP, plumbing, and HVAC systems.

·      Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to optimize indoor climate control and energy efficiency.

·      Experience in a manufacturing, construction, or cannabis production environment preferred.

·      Proven ability to manage facilities and maintenance operations in a dynamic environment.

·      Strong history of leadership, progressive responsibility, and problem-solving.

·      Ability to independently troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues.

·      High degree of attention to detail with the ability to be self-directed.

·      Strong budget management skills with a focus on cost efficiency.

·      Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

·      High level of integrity and a strong work ethic.

·      Proficiency in MS Office applications, scheduling software, and online conferencing tools.

·      Ability to work effectively in a diverse and fast-paced environment.

Must be at least 21 years old and able to pass the NJ CRC Background Check for an agent card.

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: $80,000 - $100,000
