Position Summary
The facility is seeking a Gastroenterology Physician Assistant to join its expanding GI team in Bronx, New York. This is a full-time opportunity focused on delivering high-quality digestive health care through patient evaluation, procedural support, chronic disease management, and collaboration with gastroenterologists to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Essential Position Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive gastrointestinal assessments including patient history, physical examinations, and symptom evaluation
- Manage patients with acute and chronic GI conditions such as GERD, IBS, IBD, liver disease, and gastrointestinal bleeding
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests including labs, imaging studies, and endoscopic findings
- Assist with and/or perform GI procedures (as applicable), including colonoscopies and upper endoscopies
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising gastroenterologists
- Provide medication management and monitor treatment effectiveness and patient response
- Educate patients and families on digestive health, dietary modifications, medication adherence, and disease prevention
- Coordinate care with primary care providers, specialists, and multidisciplinary teams
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record (EHR)
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and gastroenterology care programs
Qualifications
Education:
- Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
Certification:
- Board Certification as a Physician Assistant (NCCPA)
Licensure:
- Active or eligible Physician Assistant license in New York
- DEA registration (or eligibility)
Experience:
- Prior experience in gastroenterology, internal medicine, or related specialty preferred
- New graduates with strong clinical training and GI exposure are encouraged to apply
