What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Manager / Superintendent position at The Project Delivery Group?
The Role: We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Construction Manager to lead a fast-paced, high-profile $2M conference room build-out at the Moxy Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
This is a unique hybrid role that blends the on-site leadership of a Superintendent with the administrative execution of a Project Manager. You will be required to be on-site every day, taking full ownership of all construction activities. If you are a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and knows how to drive a project to completion safely, on time, and within budget, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
- On-Site Superintendent Leadership: Direct, oversee, and plan all daily field construction activities, ensuring the project stays on schedule.
- Subcontractor Coordination: Manage all trade partners on-site, coordinate daily workflows, and ensure quality control meets PDG and client standards.
- Project Management Duties: Handle the processing and tracking of RFIs, submittals, and schedule updates.
- Safety Enforcement: Serve as the primary safety manager on the job. Strictly enforce OSHA safety standards, conduct safety meetings, and ensure a secure working environment for everyone on site.
- Budget & Schedule Management: Maintain tight control over the $2M project budget and fast-paced timeline, identifying and mitigating any potential delays or cost overruns.
- Client & Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear, professional communication with hotel management, ownership representatives, architects, and the PDG leadership team.
Requirements:
- Experience (Must): Proven construction background successfully delivering similar commercial/hospitality interior projects (conference rooms, hotel build-outs, etc.) on time and on budget.
- Safety (Must): Demonstrated ability and deep experience managing and enforcing job site safety. OSHA 30 certification is highly desired.
- Communication (Must): Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to articulate technical project details clearly to the design team and clients, while being able to direct and collaborate effectively with subcontractors and tradesmen on the floor.
- Education (Preferred): A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Skills: Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering blueprints. Proficient with construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.) to handle PM duties like RFIs and submittals.
- Work Ethic: Strong problem-solving skills, ability to operate under pressure, and a proactive, "get it done" mindset.
