Double Barrel Steak at The Preserve showcases modern American steakhouse-inspired cuisine crafted by a world-renowned chef. In addition to beef steaks, and as a nod to Rhode Island’s “Ocean State” moniker, our menu features “ocean steaks,” including swordfish, halibut and tuna. In homage to The Preserve’s outdoor experiences, game meat also plays a seasonal role on the menu.
Our Bar Manager is responsible for management of all bar areas in a manner most pleasing to members and guests and is responsible for the training and supervision of bar staff. Additionally, the Bar Manager monitors inventory levels and creates wine lists and cocktail menus designed to increase beverage sales.
Pay rate starts at $15.00/hr tips
What you will be doing as Bar Manager:
- Develops and maintains a bar product and supplies inventory system for alcoholic beverages including wines, non-alcoholic beverages and mixers glassware and paper and other bar supplies.
- Plans promotional strategies and materials; develops recipes to improve the beverage program for members and guests.
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of bar areas, glassware and equipment through regular inspections.
- Develops standard operating procedures to help assure that bars are set-up and operated efficiently.
- Maintains an adequate supply of liquors, wines, beer and other beverages with effective inventory management system.
- Develops product and revenue control systems and procedures to help reduce theft.
- Assures that all laws applicable to beverage operations are consistently followed.
- Works with Food & Beverage Director and Dining Room Manager to ensure efficient beverage service in all outlets and for special functions.
- Interacts with Purchasing Department personnel relative to the procurement and receiving of beverage products and supplies.
- Works with the Food and Beverage Director, Dining Room Manager and others to develop wine lists.
- Handles complaints from club members, guests and others relative to the Beverage Department.
- Assists with private parties and service in food and beverage outlets when necessary.
- Keeps current with changing member preferences and industry trends relative to the beverage operation.
- Attends staff and management meetings, Conducts scheduled meetings with service staff as needed.
- Schedules wine and beer samplings with distributors to continuously improve variety and quality of beverages available to club members and guests.
- Monitors bar closing procedures (checklist) and assures that area is secure.
- Serve as bartender, if needed.
- Assures that the club’s policies and procedures for selling alcoholic beverages are consistently followed in all beverage outlets and at all functions.
- Completes other appropriate work assignments as requested by the Food and Beverage Director.

- Physical Stamina: Standing for long hours and handling a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of Alcohol and Cocktails: Understanding different types of spirits, beer, wine, and cocktail preparation.
- Basic Math Skills: Handling cash transactions and calculating drink orders accurately.
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree or higher in hospitality management or related field preferred.
- Three years or more bartending experience.
- Must be certified in a state-approved alcohol awareness program (ServSafe, TiPS)
