The Rebar Detailer is responsible for preparing accurate shop drawings, bar lists, and placing drawings from structural engineer documents and project specifications. This position works closely with estimating, fabrication, and project management to ensure detailing packages are delivered to customers in a timely and professional manner. This role requires travel to our various steel company locations, estimated at 20–40% of the position.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare rebar shop drawings, placing drawings, and bar lists from structural drawings and project specifications
- Detail reinforcing steel for assigned projects including commercial buildings, bridges, parking structures, and civil/infrastructure work
- Communicate with contractors, engineers, and project managers regarding submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project requirements
- Submit detail packages and bar lists to contractors, engineers, and the fabrication department in a timely manner
- Review and interpret structural drawings, blueprints, and project specifications
- Coordinate with the estimating team on material take-offs and project bids
- Track project schedules and manage multiple detailing assignments simultaneously
- Ensure all work complies with CRSI standards and applicable project specifications
- Identify and communicate discrepancies or issues found in design documents
- Travel to Premiere Steel's various company locations as needed to support projects and operations (estimated 20–40% travel)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in rebar detailing or a closely related field
- Proficiency in rebar detailing software (SHEAR 97, ShearCAD, or similar)
- Experience with Computer-Aided Drafting (AutoCAD or MicroStation)
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Strong mathematical aptitude and attention to detail
- Knowledge of CRSI standards and rebar fabrication processes
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 40% as required by business needs
- Experience detailing complex projects such as parking garages, bridges, water treatment facilities, or high-rise structures
- Familiarity with rebar fabrication and placement processes
- Working knowledge of ACI 318 building code requirements
- Experience coordinating submittals and change orders with general contractors
