Position Overview
We are seeking a Principal Project Controls Specialist/Planner to support large-scale power generation construction projects. This role will serve as the scheduling lead and Primavera P6 Subject Matter Expert responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing integrated project schedules while supporting overall project controls activities.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience supporting EPC construction projects, advanced Primavera P6 expertise, and a strong background in power generation, utility, or heavy industrial construction environments.
Key Responsibilities
Schedule Development & Management
- Develop, maintain, and manage integrated project schedules using Primavera P6
- Establish and maintain project schedule baselines
- Perform critical path analysis and schedule optimization
- Conduct schedule variance analysis, trend analysis, and schedule performance reporting
- Develop schedule recovery plans and mitigation strategies
- Track project resources, quantities, and productivity metrics
- Incorporate contract and field execution activities into project schedules
Project Controls & Cost Integration
- Support schedule and cost integration activities for forecasting and project performance analysis
- Review and evaluate schedule impacts associated with change orders
- Support project funding requests through schedule analysis and reporting
- Develop and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
- Coordinate schedule updates with contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders
Reporting & Risk Analysis
- Perform schedule analysis utilizing Primavera P6, Acumen Fuse, and related tools
- Support risk management activities including schedule risk assessments and Monte Carlo simulations
- Prepare project controls reports, dashboards, and executive-level schedule updates
- Conduct project performance evaluations and status reviews
- Support field progress verification and schedule validation activities
Leadership & Collaboration
- Serve as the Primavera P6 Subject Matter Expert for project teams
- Mentor and support project controls professionals and schedulers
- Lead project controls reviews and schedule workshops
- Promote project controls best practices and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support multiple projects and project teams as required
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Minimum 10 years of project controls, scheduling, or related experience
- Expert-level Primavera P6 scheduling experience
- Extensive experience supporting EPC construction projects
- Experience supporting power generation projects including Combined Cycle, Simple Cycle, Solar, Battery Storage, or similar facilities
- Strong understanding of Critical Path Methodology (CPM)
- Experience performing field walkdowns and schedule progress verification
- Proficiency with Acumen Fuse or similar schedule analysis software
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work onsite in Anderson, SC
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration, or related field
- PMI-SP, PMP, AACE PSP, AACE EVP, AACE CCC, CAPM, or similar certifications
- Experience evaluating contractor change orders and time impact analyses
- Experience with Monte Carlo schedule risk analysis
- Experience with MS Project and project controls reporting systems
- Prior utility, power generation, or large capital project experience
- Experience mentoring and developing project controls professionals
